I just read Bertie Bott’s note and even though I reblogged it on my Blog page, I have to say something here also.
This is unreal people!!!
As I mentioned on my post on the Kittyinaz Reblog, and before on this site, we do not get paid for this! Not a penny! I give a link for Amazon, that gives me a little amount of money. But it is something you can do to help out, while normally shopping on Amazon. It doesn’t cost YOU a penny. But this is not a direct result of me writing, and Bertie does not even do that.
The only thing authors would like in return for spending the hours we do on our work is a kind word, and often people don’t even do that! I don’t know of how many times I had to teach myself to look at hits on the page, instead of reviews to really tell what fans like. Even then, I found writing for myself the better way to go, since I am not disappointed in fan reactions.
But to have people being openly rude, well. That is unacceptable. Real Life is more important than posting stories that often don’t get a tenth of the reaction that we put into the stories. I have told my ladies over and over again that RL comes first. Our first commitment is to our real life, our families.
For instance, I have Murphy in the house right now. He needs a lot of time and effort. He is a sick puppy, and we rescued him from the elements, and he has soo much working against him. So I am trying to make sure he is ok, and my stories can wait until he is better. You guys luck out, Since it is best if I stay in one place, to get him to sleep. But I spent over an hour this morning with him, cleaning up from him being sick. You are trying to tell me you are more important than him? I’m sorry in my life, he will stay here for a long time, and half the time I have no idea who you guys are!
For Bertie, she is a mom of two and has her own furry child. You expecting her to drop her family for writing is wrong on so many ways.
Readers think they are entitled, and often we rant and rave on the more pushy ones. But I am so ashamed that an author has come to this point of saying something because of the reactions. If you are not careful, she may decide to quit. Why would she or I or any author want to write with abuse being stacked on us?
So next time, READ the author note in it’s entirety before you say anything, and also think, would you say that to us if we were in front of you? How would you like if you gave of your free time and someone harassed you for not being faster, not showing up more often and so forth. You wouldn’t take would you? Think on that…
This is MY thoughts on this, not Bertie’s. So don’t go off on a tear on this, if you want to, then do it at me. Not her.
Here is her post on it: Time Out!

Good on ya Kitty! I agree 100%!
Wow! As much as it can be frustrating to wait for an update on these fabulous stories I’m always grateful when they appear. And if it’s been so long that I forget what happened in previous chapters I look at it as an opportunity to go back and rediscover the joy I felt the first time I read it! It is unfortunate that others don’t do this and maybe they should only read the completed stories in the future.
I seriously cannot believe the rudeness of some people! I would never even consider writing anything like that, not even to someone who gets PAID to write. It is just common courtesy for goodness sake!
Amen sister. I love the work yall put out. How many chapters are there left for your True Blood stories, and what story will you start next if you know?
Awww, Kittinaz, you take all the time you need for your puppy, your family, hell, even for your own sanity. We’re all adults here – we can learn some fucking patience and wait. I promise – we’ll live. ♥
Thank you Kitty <3
I agree 100% I haven’t updated my stories on FF.net for the last six months because I needed a break from pushy/rude fans. Yes, it sucks that I feel like I’m punishing the good along with the bad, but sometimes you need to step back for a mo and readjust. My fur babies and husband come before my writing and my novel writing comes before my fanfics…it’s just the way it is. Love your work ladies and hope to hear from y’all soon!
I am so sorry to hear that some people are so ungrateful for all of the time and talent you fabulous writers put into your work.
I have discovered so many wonderful stories to enjoy in the fan fiction universe and always look forward to updates but I would never presume to pressure anyone who is providing their time and talent for free.
I agree that your real lives must always come first and yet I am still amazed that so many of you are able to find the time in your obviously busy lives to give something of yourselves to those of us that you will never meet.
Please know that all of your wonderful talents are appreciated. 😉
I couldn’t agree with you more. While we may love the stories y’all put out we need to also keep in mind that writing them is a hobby for you and not a career and that because of that the events happening and the people in your lives take priority. This type of situation happened with a Law & Order: SVU author I used to follow over on Fanfiction.net. She got so tired of having the readers that were reviewing her stories bug her for updates and not recognizing that she had a life outside of writing her stories that not only did she quit writing, she also pulled all her stories (both completed and ongoing) off of FFN. We all need to keep in mind that our favorite authors have their own lives and that when we review we should be letting them know that we love their stories and that we will be patiently waiting for the next update, whenever they get a chance to write it, and not pressuring them to update on our schedule. We do that and we may not like the results that come out of that situation.
Thank you for all the work you put into bringing us the stories we love I may not review often due to my lack of anything better to say than great job but please know that I appreciate you and all of those talented people that invest their time and talents to write so thank you
Well my pushy stalker furbaby demands to be walked thrice a day. Rain snow sleet or dry, otherwise I will be cleaning poop and piddles. So yeah, caring for animals is tough but when they shower you with love and affection, you’re a goner. I am so wulped!
The furball has me by the short hairs. If I let her off the leash, she humps every dog in a three block radius. The little slut!
I have been reading fanfiction for ages, and there have always and will always be people that can’t write for a certain amount of time. And I am honestly fine with that. It’s their life, and as you and others in this circle keep pointing out, you’re doing this for free. You get nothing out of it. So I really don’t get why some people don’t understand it. Swearing at your favorite writers is not going to make them write more. Hell, it’s probably going to do the exact opposite.
And while I hate to say it, the best thing you can sometimes do is just not read the comments after you’ve posted that you need to take care of a sick ball of fluff, or you are being sued for nothing (Wyrdsmith on fanfic, and she’s still awesome but the hate she gets…just unreal). Because you just know there will always be a couple of asshats ready to bring you down, rain hate upon you for no reason at all.
You know, I look forward to your posts every week. But that time when you weren’t posting (I believe it was in August or September or something) I wouldn’t even think of writing hate about/to you or your Beta’s. That’s just rude. I re-read your stories, a lot, and I’m not saying that I don’t love every word you so carefully put on the page.
I’m just saying, you have a life. Bertie has a life. People need to learn to respect that.

Side note: I have long since given in and read your Twilight fics. And while I dislike Twilight in general, I love your fics. How ’bout that?
Side note 2: My mother has been home lately, unable to work due to the stress. My dad has actually called in ill to work (he never does that) because they put too much pressure on him. Please don’t let that happen to you dear, take enough breaks when you need them, not when it’s too late like my mum and dad! Those who care about you as a person and understand.
Much love
